Adam’s studio is located in the downtown, historic part of Folsom, right on Sutter Street. It has an excellent, artistic atmosphere and convenient for those traveling from areas outside of Folsom.
Each child will work at their own pace and will do either drawing or sculpting. Each child can choose what direction they would like to pursue as far as what medium to work in and at what pace to work.

My 2 sons, 8 and 6 years of age, participated in Adam Reeder’s Art and Sculpture classes during the summer of 2011.
Reeder’s 3 hour-long classes allowed the children ample time to work in various media. Adam then tied the various projects into a common artistic idea, theme or technique.
In one class, my sons learned about shapes in the world and how to draw them. Adam then showed them how to observe their individual drawing styles and compare their styles to reality.
Adam puts strong emphasis on students learning through reflecting on their own experiences. In one class, the children explored different sculpting media: wax, sculpey clay and self-hardening clay. Adam reminded them that the material you work with is your only limitation. He encouraged them to see what was possible with each material and what was not. They then wrote short journal entries at the end of class with their thoughts on each material.
Adam told the children that they were writing a letter to themselves in the future and emphasized how important this was to developing their own artistic preferences, opinions and style.
Adam takes time to see the ideas behind each students work. He provides insightful feedback, making note of artistic principles that surface as the children draw or sculpt and elaborates on those principles in the class. He uses his own work as examples and the children get to touch and hold his sculptures and view his sketches.
Adam takes time to speak with each parent on the progress of their child. He provides encouragement and guidance that takes the learning style, interests, creative bent and personality of each child into consideration.
